Geomantic Art

"January 21, 1693 - The moon having been eclipsed that night, the greater part of the sick died." A doctor wrote about planetary influence. Geomancy is the art of using eg astrology and mathematics to mine knowledge connecting us with earth. Feng Shui (Wind-Water) has become the practical knowhow to harmonize our interaction with the environment.

Older Hongkongers consult the Chinese Almanac to decide the earthly-space and heavenly-time to do important things. Does geomantic art arise as an alternative interpretation of science or casual relations? Can Feng Shui really foretell future events through judging the interplay between nature and properties of certain mystical variables?

A well-known Feng Shui master recently passed away at the age of 96. It was only in March 2018 that I followed a special tour group and had the privilege of seeing the kind master and visiting his harmonious home in Foshan. Although I am not a doctor, I guessed the learned master was reasonably well then, and naturally, I was surprised to hear the bad news.

Some people may believe that every happening on earth has been predetermined by prior events or natural influences. There are others like me who strongly believe the free will in us and we can change the world no matter what. Perhaps, geomantic art or Feng Shui comforts humans' forever fear of the unknown and has the Placebo effect!
